Loan to Catalonia Hotels & Resorts

Villanueva Ortiz Abogados, S.C., advised and represented Banco de Sabadell (Spain), in connection with a USD$32,000,000.00 USD senior secured loan granted to Catalonia Hotels & Resorts, as borrower, a Spanish group with over 75 hotels with operations in Spain, Brussels, Amsterdam, Oporto, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Santo Domingo. The proceeds of the facility will be used for corporate expenses and for the allocation of resources to several hotels owned by the group. The transaction involves a secured financing on the hotel “Catalonia Playa Maroma” located in Playa del Carmen, Mexico with over 400 luxurious suits surrounded by a complex filled with nature.
