Partner Eduardo Villanueva Ortiz, associate Emiliano Flores Zepeda, and law clerk María José Pérez Orozco advised and represented a syndicate of banks made up of Banco Sabadell, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, Banco Nacional de Comercio Exterior, S.N.C., Institución de Banca de Desarrollo, Avantta Sentir Común, S.A. de C.V., SOFOM, E.N.R., and Banco Santander México, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, Grupo Financiero Santander México, on a $15,000,000.00 USD credit increase to an existing loan of $120,000,000.00 USD granted to Riviera Isla Maya, S.A. de C.V., owner of the Hotel “St. Regis Costa Mujeres” located in Costa Mujeres, Cancun, part of the prestigious Marriott International brand and featuring 160 rooms and 82 exclusive residences.
VOA was responsible for the preparation and execution of the amendment agreement to the credit facility, as well as its system of guarantees, made up of amendment agreements to a Mexican trust agreement, a mortgage over the Hotel, and pledge agreement over the assets of the Hotel. The financing was allocated for the completion of the Hotel’s multimillion-dollar construction, which will feature luxury restaurants described as “temples” of gastronomy, 24/7 butler service, beach club, open-air cinema, kid’s club, a water park, a library, among many other amenities.
