Loan for Marriott’s Luxury Collection Resort “Paraiso de la Bonita”

Partner, Eduardo Villanueva Ortiz, leading associate Emiliano Flores Zepeda, and law clerk Casilda Rodríguez-Peña Monterrubio, advised and represented Banco Sabadell, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, as lender, in connection with a $152,000,000.00 USD multi-jurisdiction secured credit facility granted to Balear Inmobiliaria, S.A. de C.V., owner of Marriott’s Luxury Collection Resort “Paraiso de la Bonita” in Cancun.  

VOA was in charge of preparing and executing the credit agreement and its system of guarantees, which were made up of securities and assets in various jurisdictions, including Mexico, the U.S.A. and Uruguay.

The loan was used to reimburse Balear Inmobiliaria the multimillion-dollar transformation of the hotel, which is a 19-time recipient of AAA’s Five Diamond Award and was originally constructed by world-renowed architect Carlos Gosselin.
